Mumbai: Tips Films Limited is staging a confident comeback to film distribution by self-releasing its upcoming in-house production, the romantic comedy Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai. The film reunites veteran director David Dhawan with his son, lead actor Varun Dhawan, promising a high-energy, wholesome family entertainer filled with humour, romance and broad mass appeal.
Produced by Ramesh Taurani, Managing Director of Tips Films, the project also stars Mrunal Thakur and Pooja Hegde in key roles. Supporting cast includes Maniesh Paul, Jimmy Sheirgill, Chunky Panday, Mouni Roy, Kubbra Sait, Rakesh Bedi and others, creating a vibrant ensemble tailored for multi-generational audiences.
David Dhawan, celebrated for his signature style of fast-paced comedies and feel-good narratives, brings decades of expertise in crafting crowd-pleasing cinema. This collaboration marks another father-son outing following their 2020 hit Coolie No. 1. The film’s title draws inspiration from a memorable line in Dhawan’s earlier work Biwi No. 1, evoking nostalgia while targeting contemporary viewers with youthful energy and modern storytelling.
Tips Films has outlined a comprehensive nationwide distribution strategy, utilising its extensive network across domestic circuits. The plan aims to ensure wide accessibility, reaching both urban multiplexes and single-screen theatres in smaller towns and semi-urban areas. This move signals the banner’s renewed focus on theatrical distribution backed by strong in-house content.
The release date was recently adjusted from June 5 to June 12, 2026, to avoid a clash with Yash’s pan-India film Toxic. In an official statement, Ramesh Taurani explained: “We would like to clarify that our film Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai was originally scheduled for release on 5th June, a date we had announced several months ago. However, after recent developments and considering the prevailing situation, we felt it would be more appropriate to shift our release. We strongly believe that it is always healthier for the industry when filmmakers support one another rather than compete unnecessarily on the same date. In that spirit of solidarity, we have decided to move the release of Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai to 12th June and bring our film to the audiences a week later.”
The strategic one-week shift positions the film favourably in the pre-summer window, when families and younger audiences seek light-hearted theatrical experiences. Early promotional materials and social media buzz highlight the film’s promise of “love, madness & full-on entertainment,” with colourful visuals, energetic choreography and the classic Dhawan brand of humour.
Writers Yunus Sajawal and Farhad Samji have penned the screenplay, while music is expected to come from the popular duo Sachin-Jigar. The project has undergone previous date adjustments, originally eyed for April 2026 before moving to early June, reflecting careful industry coordination.
As Bollywood navigates a balance between high-stakes spectacles and accessible, entertaining narratives, Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai stands out for its emphasis on inclusive, multi-generational appeal. Tips Films’ decision to handle distribution in-house underscores strong confidence in the film’s commercial prospects and the team’s ability to deliver a complete package of comedy and romance.
The film is scheduled to release worldwide on June 12, 2026, in Hindi with dubbed versions for wider reach. With an official trailer already creating anticipation, the production team is gearing up for a vibrant marketing campaign that leverages the star power of Varun Dhawan alongside the fresh pairing with Mrunal Thakur and Pooja Hegde.
This development not only marks Tips Films’ active return to distribution but also reinforces David Dhawan’s enduring relevance in delivering reliable, audience-friendly entertainers in an evolving cinematic landscape.
